Modify your robots or make your own from scratch with these high-quality solar cells and miniature motors. Choose from five different solar cells and six different motors.

Mabuchi Motor

This Mabuchi FF-030-PN is a great little BEAM motor at a very attractive price. The motor is rated for 1 to 6 volts. The RPM is 7500 at 2.4 volts. This motor measures 25mm long (including gear), 12mm thick, 15.5mm wide, and weighs 11 grams.

Miniature Gearmotor

This gearmotor is very comparable to standard hobby servos for power, at a fraction of the cost! The gear ratio is 224:1 which results in 50 in-oz of torque, at 38 rpm. A built-in clutch limits torque to 60 in-oz to prevent damage to the gears. At 5 Volts the motor draws 600mA when stalled and just 52mA with no load.

A 7mm double-flat output shaft and built-in mounting screw holes makes this gearmotor very easy to use. Based on the original design by Mark Tilden these motors are the next generation with a variety of improvements such as dual output shafts and a lower current motor.

Overall size is 55mm (2.17") x 47mm (1.85") x 22mm (0.87") thick. Comes in sets of two.

Miniature Right Angle Gearmotor

This right angle gearmotor is identical to the parallel-shaft gearmotor (above) except for the 90-degree output shaft. The gear ratio is 224:1 which results in 50 in-oz of torque, at 38 rpm. A built-in clutch limits torque to 60 in-oz to prevent damage to the gears. At 5 Volts the motor draws 600mA when stalled and just 52mA with no load.

Overall size is 65mm (2.56") long x 22mm (0.867") x 18.5mm (0.73"). Comes in sets of two.

Servo Motor

This is the Tower Hobbies TS-53 standard servo, which is easy to convert into a continuously rotating gearmotor. Instructions for the conversion are included with each servo. Also included is a full servo accessory pack.

Vibrating Motors

This little vibrating motor is fully self-contained - no visible moving parts. It measures 14mm diameter and 3.5mm thick.

Miniature Solar Cells

These tiny 1/8" square epoxy encapsulated solar cells produce 0.475 volts (open circuit) and 1.86mA (short circuit) in noon sunlight. Maximum power output for 10 in series is .64mW. Note: You will need at least 6 wired in series to generate enough voltage to power most solar engines.

24 X 33 Solar Cell

24x33mm Competition-grade Sunceram solar cells produce 2.7 volts (open circuit) and 16mA (short circuit) in noon sunlight. Maximum power output is 28mW. Complete with pre-tinned solder pads for easier soldering.

37 X 33 mm Solar Cell

37x33mm large solar cell produces 5.5 volts (open circuit) and 15mA (short circuit) in noon sunlight. Maximum power output is 43mW. These cells will just fit on the back of the Photopopper Photovore kit, and make it very active.
